The SYMA S107G RC Helicopter
The SYMA S107G is great little indoor helicopter and this is the model that we believe led the way in high quality infrared indoor helicopter.
The flexibility of the rotor blades in the SYMA S107G is excellent and they instil you with the sense that they are ready to take bumps and knocks with the best of them. SYMA realised when designing the S107G that it needed to be able to withstand more crashes than many other models because it was going to be targeted towards not just competent helicopter pilots but also those just becoming interested in RC flying and also likely youngsters.
Unlike other helicopters in this price range and of this size, many of the parts are detachable using a normal screwdriver meaning that if something does eventually fail, there is no need to replace the entire helicopter but rather you are able to conduct the repair yourself using one of the replacement aftermarket parts from the manufacturer.
Lots of small indoor helicopters use a NiMh battery that charges from the remote controller, this is usually adequate but for the S107G, SYMA have stepped things up a level and installed a high quality LiPo (Lithium Polymer) battery to ensure that the model has a sustainable flying time and also that it is able to deliver lots of power for those tricky indoor manoeuvres and sharp ascents.
You may be worried that charging a LiPo battery from your controller would be problematic due to the charging process taking too long and potentially draining the controller's batteries. Luckily, this is something that SYMA themselves picked up on and addressed. You will be pleased to hear that the S107G not only has the ability to charge from the remote controller but also from a USB source using the supplied cable. This allows you to quickly charge the helicopter either from your desktop or laptop computer's USB port or even from a 13A mains-USB adapter or travel adapter that you might already own.
